A month ago I encountered 2 different opponents who were terrible players but
with each of them just before I was going to mate them, they were able to abort
and I could not do anything about it. The games were not registered as wins by
me. I followed one of them as a kibitzer and he was doing it to others. I
complained to the site authorities and even telephoned the Chessbase office
about how was that possible and never got a satisfactory response. It hasn't
happened again but I am sure that there are rogue programs that can hack the
ChessBase site. They watch computer cheaters pretty carefully and throw them
out, so
I imagine that playchess is a prime candidate for hacking.
