Separate directories are a waste of space, and will confuse things (i.e. when you run the automatic update, it cannot update both). The different engines themselves are always selectable by pressing F3 anyway, when you have done a normal installation with only one "engines" directory. You can choose the GUI's "version id" in tools/options/version.. from the menu. That affects which startup screen is displayed, program window title, and which engines would be be used for benchmarks (Fritzmark, Shreddermark etc.). Steve
