I use 256 MB fixed size (only) on a notebook with 512 MB RAM and have no problems. I'm aware it "should" work of course when it's within windows specifications, nevertheless I'm just saying it's the only thing which looks unusal to me, among your configuration infos. But HD / file system problems seem more likely to me after your problem reports. Steve
