The program plays a little bit boring and extremly passive, but unbelievable safe and strong. From the beginning it plays on the top and the reason for it´s one lost (against Fritz) was the mini-book. Congratulations to Christophe Theron who tops the big commercials. Fritz 5.32, the second, plays optically better, but not as safe as Tiger. Third place for Shredder 3. He is unbeatable in the endgame. If you want to beat him you have to do it in the middlegame. No chance otherwise. 4th place for Junior 5. Very strong in the middle, with weaknesses in the endgame. 5th is Nimzo 98/P. He plays too much remis and has too much positional weaknesses to top the others. 6th is the new WChess. Very strong in the midgame with many positional sacrifices, but the endgame is unbelievable weak. 7th place for the very disappointing Nimzo99/2. Most of the games he has lost in the middlegame due to its positional weakness in combination with tactical wholes. The update seems not to be stronger than the former Nimzo99. Last one is Zarkov 5, which is not able to compete with the others. The weakest program in all phases. Next entries are MCP8, Rebel10c and Hiarcs 7. Maybe that makes the things changing. But I think ChessTiger will nevertheless hold on the top. Marcus
