I happen to agree. I prefer to play nice open positions that still requires positional play to gain the advantage. Setting up a blocked position and winning on time, or waiting for a blunder is just boring to me. Trust me, that is how I started out. I took the time to learn some good solid openings, followed the lessons from the Chessmaster series and "went to work".... Every so often I get in a doozy of a game and whether I lose it or not, there is _always_ something I can learn from each game. This to me is the main reason I play. To _learn_. With that said, Ed is doing nothing new. In every sport, one team/person takes advantage of it's opponents weaknesses to win. Whether it be a weak right fielder, shody goaltending, or a aweful backhand, someone's weaknesses are always exploited to gain a win. It's not attractive, but it works. Peter
