Main concepts of the "Barrage" position: It is essential to obtain an inverted triangle of three pawns. White wants pawns on d4, e3 and f4. Ideal is the Bird opening. Then push the Kingside pawns to the fifth rank as quickly as possible while contemplating 0-0-0 or just playing the King up one square. "A pawn chain obstructs the Black pieces from engaging in the defense of their King." And of course the idea was to win against an engine and not to win on time :)
