At first let me state that I am very pleased when I see with how much politeness and therefore silence the message by Eduard was taken. Decent human beings anyway would never throw stones, words, sarcasms on people like Eduard. I want to thank you all! Let me then add a little explanation for the actual case. Such things happen at times in such internet fora. First of all thank you to all English native speakers. The main reason for such misunderstandings and emotional reactions is lying in the language itself. Eduard doesn't speak English and all translation routines can't tell him the original content, not to speak about the intentions of it. But there is a genuine computerchess topic or problem hidden behind the Eduard topic. And this is why also in German speaking groups people get angry at Eduard from time to time. Now this is the main point here: There's a mixed two-sided aspect that might confuse people. Ed is a marvelous chessplayer, he's an expert player, no master or GM of course. But at his strength you know almost all about chess - while the difference to the giants is mainly the genius of the masters. But they also play the same tech as Eduard is using it. Now the double twilight. Eduard thinks that he's giving the programmers insight into their program's playing so that they could improve. However, now the backside, Eduard willy nilly is presenting his reports with the attitude that computerchessprograms are stupid, IF you follow the style of Eduard or others. -- Such an approach will never lead to a close relationship between programmers and their claque, mainly the freaks in our field. You feel yourself insulted and abused, if you are presented as representative of dumbness. Many experts in chess, and above all, the real genial masters, simply show only contempt for such "strategies" of anti-computer style. Simply because it would insult their whole chess understanding. Only the truth is that with such a tech you can outplay computers. To be able to beat a machine with normal chess, you must be a Kramnik or take any favorite among the top notches in chess. You can't hope to win against a machine except in a lucky punch in 1 out of 100 gaqmes. However with the carefully reseached anti-style you can well outplay even the strongest machine players. All depends of your preparation. Now - believe me one thing. Eduard isn't a cheater! It wouldn't make sense if he were. The only thing he seems to have forgotten is the basic difference between home-made analyses in your own kitchen and playing chess in public. A private game doesn't become public chess if it's published! For generations so to speak a smart chess freak in Germany publishes his actual wins against the actual top machine progs. Of course always with White and always in less than 30 moves and always with many sacs in attacking the Black King! It's nt cheated, but it's not average public chess either! The experts in chess and computerchess know about this difference. They know all the weaknesses of machine chess too. Now why Eduard can't be of great help for the programmers?? The answer is easy: Even with hundreds of Eduard advices and games machine chess couldn't be programmed like human chess! This is what Eduard, beyond his great chess talents, is completely missing. If however Eduard would play a public match, and the truth is Eduard always dreamed of such an event, the programmers would simply tune their prog AGAINST Eduard! And Eduard could no longer play his usual chess. But with "normal" chess Eduard would be much too weak! Already in the openings he would be outplayed if he hasn't by chance his favorites. This is exactly the difference between a 2200 player and a master. The masters have brains like enzyclopedies. Plus their own analyses. If Eduard had such a talent he would be expert but master himself. The rest is a delusion. The delusion that passive understanding is the same as active capacities to play GM chess... Now my top moral for us all! We all, as we like chessplaying, are dreamers in its positive sense, like Eduard. We all think that we could play like the big ones, if we only had the chance to participate in such a tournament or event. Because we see the position and we would also make the same move that won the game for Kramnik!! But as Tartakower the great psychologist already has said: I could also find all that what Alekhine does - BUT if I only had the chance to have such positions in my own games!! I beg you all here in CCC to enjoy the performances of Eduard and giving him all the applause he deserved from time to time. And please don't become bitter, if you discover a little delusion here or there. I mean, we are all humans, and who is without any thinkable faults?? Please! I wish you all a good weekend, in special to Eduard, Ede, lass dich nicht beirren, regards, Rolf P.S. Thanks to the mods for NOT overreacting. GENS UNA SUMUS
