Subject: Hard disk thrashing with Shredder9

It has been said many times before. Don't accept the situation whereby the
engine calculating causes the hard disk to access when the OS uses hard disk
space as part of RAM. There is more than 1 cause for this. If you have another
program running at the same time as Shredder9 and then close the other program
Shredder9 may not have enough RAM for its hash table and thus the hard disk is
accessed. If you don't fix the hard disk thrashing, you will notice that
Shredder calculates at a snail's pace compared to accessing only RAM for it's
hash tables.
Everyone by now knows all this, but instead of
adjusting the hash table size to quiet down the hard disk accessing, simply shut
Shredder9 down and restart. The hard disk thrashing will stop. Don't worry, the
board position and moves are always saved.
