Dual-Core and 64 bit extensions .. What happens with commercial engines?

Crafty is a free engine supports both ..
Now a "new" fritz engine at the cost of 50$ will be worse or equal strength to a
crafty running at full at 2 cores and 64 bit ..

What do you think is going to happen to commercial engines?
Why would someone buy an outdated partially crippled engine ?
Thanks for your thoughts and response..
