Hi Stuart, intel does make motherboards for desktop and laptops. these are so called oem parts. any third party pc manufacturer can use them in their products and then name them something else. there are dozens of motherboard makers out there like asus/abit/gigabite so on. they make them both for intel and amd processors. so you got a generic notebook (no name brand) which is using a genuine intel motherboard. if you had buyed a name brand like HP with an intel motherboard, you would have paid quite a bit more for the name and possibly get less futures. if you are ok with the quality/warranty of this notebook, you don't have to worry about the rest. since chess taxes the computer components alot you need to see if the laptop has a good cooling fan blowing the hot air out. they all tend to get very hot in the bottom side. keep it away from your lap if you want to have more children :) good luck Murat ...
