Go up one level in this thread

this past week i have been pitting the Res against some of the stronger
portables i have
so far i played 3 games against the Novag Sapphire II and 4 games against the
Star Ruby
all games were Game 30 min..

the Res has won all 7 games

below is one such game which is fairly typical

Game 30 min
[Date "6-4-2005"]
[White "Novag Star Ruby"]
[Black "Resurrection-2.02"]
[Result "0-1"]

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Qb6 5. Nb3 Nf6 6. Nc3 e6 7. Be3
Qd8 8. a3 d5 9. exd5 Nxd5 10. Nxd5 exd5 11. Bb5 Be7 12. Nd4 Bd7 13. O-O
O-O 14. Bd3 g6 15. Qf3 Bc8 16. Rfe1 Ne5 17. Qf4 Bd6 18. Qg5 Bd7 19. Qxd8
Rfxd8 20. Be2 Rac8 21. Bf4 f6 22. Rad1 Ba4 23. Ne6

[D] 2rr2k1/pp5p/3bNpp1/3pn3/b4B2/P7/1PP1BPPP/3RR1K1 w - - 0 1

here the SR starts to go wrong ..
at this point each computer had used about 10 min each

23... Re8 24. b3

[D] 2r1r1k1/pp5p/3bNpp1/3pn3/b4B2/PP6/2P1BPPP/3RR1K1 w - - 0 1

continuing down the wrong path

24...Rxe6 25. bxa4 Rxc2 26. Kf1 Nf7 27. Bxd6

[D] 6k1/pp3n1p/3Brpp1/3p4/P7/P7/2r1BPPP/3RRK2 w - - 0 1

at this point the Res goes into one of its now trade mark.. "deep thinks"
vacillating between taking with the Knight or with the Rook
i know i was in for a long wait so i jumped into the car..did some grocery
shopping, banking and got a car wash
as i was walking in the door the Res beeped and played..

27....Rxd6 28. Bf3 d4 29. Bxb7
Kf8 30. a5 Rc3 31. a4 Ne5 32. a6 d3 33. Re3 Nc4 34. Rh3 Nb2 35. Rb1 Rc5
36. Rxh7 d2 37. Rh8+ Ke7 38. Rh7+ Ke6 39. Ke2 Rc1 40. Bc8+ Rxc8 41. f4
Rc2

[D] 8/p6R/P2rkpp1/8/P4P2/8/1nrpK1PP/1R6 w - - 0 1

here the Res announces a mate in 8
the SR of course knows it is in very bad shape but does not see the mate
after the next two moves SR then announces a mate against itself in 6

42. f5+ gxf5 43. Re7+ Kxe7 44. Rd1 Nxd1 45. Kxd1 Rc1+ 46. Ke2 d1=Q+
47. Kf2 Rd2+ 48. Ke3 Rd3+ 49. Kf4 Qg4# 0-1

FINAL POSITION

[D] 8/p3k3/P4p2/5p2/P4Kq1/3r4/6PP/2r5 w - - 0 1

these computers were mere fodder for the Res

Best
Steve
