Hello Dann, These would be very bad book lines? Shredder against Shredder both announcing White has Mate in 8 first move after the opening? I have heard Shredder being accused of some bad lines in the Leiden tournament but that beats it. I don't believe these are any standard booklines but rather some own lines/games Vegadapirate was analyzing in Arena? If these are from actual games than indeed Black was not well prepared. That doesn't mean that Halloween Attack is a bad opening with White against computers or humans if programs or humans don't see White's compensation. Steffen Jakob from Hossa and others seem to have played it often, as he tells about on his homepage. There is a Bill Gates line, an Aardwolf line and what not.. Eelco
