DHM Over the past several years, Shredder has proven it's premier ranking amongst the strongest software chess programs. Hydra's software is just a baby by comparison. There is no doubt that Shredder software is stronger than Hydra's, imo. Hydra's use of hardware however, is unique, and the combination of that hardware and software, which is impossible with Shredder et. al., may indeed prove or currently even be, stronger than Shredder on any hardware it can run on. It would be intersting to see Shredder on a dynamite 16 cpu fast opteron system, matched up against Hydra. Dave
