But it is not a waste of time to them, assuming that is all they do (we don't
really know that now do we).

That is one way, but not the only way.

How do you know this? Do you seriously think that most GM's don't own atleast
one chess playing program?

What is your point with that statment? ("let the testers play Kasparov!")

I have learned a lot about tactics, good pieces v bad pices, openings, opening
ideas etc from watching computers play. You can learn a lot from watching 2700+
play whether it is two computers or two humans, if this is not true to you, then
i am sorry to hear that, but just because you can't learn from watching
computers play against eachother does not mean that others can't.

Still this is about computer chess...
If you like you can play some games against chess engines yourself and post them
here, i for one won't mind.

>I have learnt, testing engines is their hobby, they dont get paid for anything,

Wow you seem to be getting how it works :) now add some human aspects, the
ability to enjoy your hobby and you are almost there.

>I wonder what will happen to computerchess world?
>you will get more shredders and Fritzs, thats all.

And progressively stronger engines, lot's of fun testing them etc.
