The two activities are not mutually exclusive.  I play hundreds of games against
the computers and also play hundreds of games computer verses computer.  You can
also learn a lot by watching the compters play.  In a similar way, we can learn
by watching two GMs play.

There are about 500 GMs in the world.  They are rare everywhere.  Nevertheless,
there are some very good chess players who post here.

I guess that most people play slower games than one minute.  I also have a well
known dislike for blitz.  And yet I find (for instance) Pavel's Yace/Aristarch
contest compelling for some reason.

At any rate, I play slower games and the SSDF plays slower games and lots of
others play slower games.  If you look around, you will find them.

If you do not enjoy the blitz games, then look at something else.

If you look a the preponderance of games on the internet, you will find that
most of them are blitz, even by the super GMs.  So apprently, lots of people
enjoy that somewhat chesslike sport.
