Hello all,
I'm playing a match against Gandalf 6.01, just to try out my Pro Deo 1.1 Vulcan
{9i8c} settings. Gandalf is a strong opponent so I expect it to win the match.
Games are played on one Athlon 3200+, no pondering, 200 Mb HT for each engine.
It is not a dual 2,7 GHz Mac but fast enough for me!
Time control is 40 moves in one hour, repeated for next 40 moves.
Start positions are from Noomen.pgn, first a Sicilian Richter-Rauzer.
Two draws fought to the end in the first round. Pro Deo appeared to have some
good chances in the second game with two connected passers and a material
advantage, showing +3 eval, but Gandalf also had a passed pawn that came close
to touching the baseline. In the end it was Pro Deo that had to fight to secure
a draw with a Queen against Rook, Knight and Bishop. That was an interesting
endgame to watch, and Pro Deo escaped after finding 132.Qd3!, after that both
engines gave the position a draw value.
