Hi Dom,

How are your CM 10 settings doing against the CM Beasts and Behemoths? I think
you have more competition than the Pro Deo testers, with all the people trying
to find their own ultimate Chessmaster settings and with all the tournaments
going.

Maybe you are right that in Chessmaster it is hard to find settings that are
better in finding combinations. Possibly because the default settings are
already very good at finding those and playing attacking chess. That has always
been important to Johan de Koning to keep that in the way The King plays its
games. It does involve some risks maybe, by setting up a very sharp attack there
is also considerably less room for error.

Good to hear that somebody has taken a look at the Vulcan settings! These Vulcan
{9i8c} setting are not as extreme as the Vulcan Tactical Engine settings, but I
did want to see if I could make the Betazoid settings a bit more attacking
still. Don't know if it will work. I set all the material values at 90 and that
is a bit like in the Milan settings, it's in Vulcan Q1 but also in some of the
earlier settings from Albert Silver they were all at 98. Also King Safety at 175
was already tried in Albert Silver's earlier Search and Destroy settings.
Certainly not at 400 though, like in Q3 and Q5T or in Vulcan Q1 :)

Even [King Safety = 175] may be a bit too much..

Also some pawn settings have been altered and now put at equal levels again
(but at 115!) and I'm also testing [Fail High Margin].
There are in the meantime also Vulcan {9i8d}-{9i8g} settings so I'm still
looking for a good balance. If some of the settings are too extreme, balancing
won't work very well..
But there is ultimately no alternative to playing games with the settings to
test them.
