The Smirf engine supports 8x8 and 10x8 chess variants. Because of a missing protocol supporting these, I have invented and published a new TMCI protocol. I do not have the illusion, that it would be used often by some people now. It is not Smirf's fault no to be supported by common GUIs, because those GUIs do not provide 10x8 boards, and there still is no protocol, which would support Chess960. Even Winboard has contradictory rules, how to encode castlings, and does not support the necessary X-FEN to set up any position. Reinhard.
