My selection for the tournament of the century (millaneum), would be Kasparov, Fischer, Kamsky, Ivanchuk, Deep Blue, Fritz5, Rebel10 and HIARCS7. Fischer would play, but he would demand more money, no camera's, and a seeled room, apart from everyone, including the computer. Of course no Jews can be involved in the organization. Kasparov would play the most interesting games, but would lose in 17 moves against Dlue Blue. Again he would have 'missing' printouts to justify his bad play there. He would beet Kamsky, but have a close fight with his father. Kamsky would have an even score against the humans, but lose to the computers. His father would claim foul play, and would have to be removed from the tournament hall. He would be allowed in the computer room. (with supervision). Deep Blue would beat Kasparov, and the other microcomputers, but would be slowly squeezed by the other humans. Fritz5 as mentioned, would fair poorly against most of the humans, but beet Deep Blue, Rebel10. It would have a respectable score, but have 10 times the memory and/or Hash memory than the other programs, giving it an unfair advantage. Ed Shroeder would have to boycott the results of any Fritz games in the tournament! Rebel 10 would Beet the humans, except maybe Kamsky, who plays like a machine. It would draw with the other computers, except of course Fritz. Hiarcs7 with its 'Anti Human' feature would win agains the humans, except maybe against Fischer, who is not human. It would make a good rating in the event despite being the slowest 'bean counter' among the programs. Deep Blue would have an up and down, unprictable tournament, but Feng-hsiung Hsu and team would explain that they were 'tweeking' the program in every round, this was just a scienctific experiment anyway, and that IBM would perhaps underwrite just one more event like this to show how the next speedup and final program, Really Deep Blue would win. Ivanchuk would defeat all of the humans, except maybe Kamsky and Fischer, and would refuse to play all of the Computers, explaining that, "It is incredibly stupid that computers were allowed to play in this event, and that he would refuse to play in all such silly tournaments in the future". He would win the prize for best score in the 2nd half. I think this is a logical extrapolation of what would happen if such an impossible tournament took place:) mrslug - the inkompetent chess software addict!
