I can maybe add a few more comments about the installation of Pro Deo:
Pro Deo 1.1 was installed and runs now also under my brand new Shredder Classic
interface from Stefan Meyer-Kahlen, as an UCI engine. This using rebeluci.exe as
made by Ed.
I encountered some minor technical issues doing this.
First: as I'm using Windows XP I changed TerminateHard = false to TerminateHard
= true in wb2uci.eng.
Secondly:
Rebeluci did not at first recognize my Vulcan {9i8c} settings as I think this
name was too long (or I have too many similar named Vulcan settings). I changed
the name to Vulcan _1.eng and this gets recognized, as I can also check in
param.txt from Pro Deo. To get rebeluci.exe to accept the personality I changed
under [OPTIONS] in wb2uci.eng
Program = prodeo.exe w7 rebel.eng
to
Program = prodeo.exe w8 Vulcan_1.eng
w8 to get bigger hashtables
Third:
From wb2uci.eng the line I have under [EXTRAS]
Personality=setvar personality C:\Program
Files\Rebel\RebelTigerII\engines\ProDeo\personal\%s.eng|combo|No
Learning|Betazoid T8|Vulcan {9i8c}|Rebel|Rebel|Rebel
is not recognized by the Shredder GUI. This is not a very big problem when I
discovered how to get the Vulcan settings to be read as I wrote under point two
above. I put in a complete path to the settings, but that made no difference. I
suppose this option only works under Chessbase.
As far as I can see Rebel/Pro Deo now works fine in the Shredder Classic
interface! Nice interface too!
Here is part of the log under Shredder's ucidebug mode, loading Pro Deo 1.1 and
analyzing part of the second Deep Blue - Kasparov game. Apart from not
recognizing the personality combo this goes well:

I tried some changes to the Vulcan {} settings again, by disabling the [Adjusted
Selectivity] switches and going back to [Selective Search = 100]. Center Control
a bit higher and a few other things; this adds up to a new Vulcan_1. Some
changes mean more reductions, deeper plydepths, on a faster computer it may work
even though it possibly misses some tactics on earlier plies.

Vulcan_1 on second game Deep Blue - Kasparov after 36..axb5, maybe not very
spectacular. Is 37.Qxb6 a forced win or not? Pro Deo Vulcan_1 does not seem to
think so.
