I hear you, but I think you should find the Expensive American Money for just this one chess program - Fritz5.32. You can get it for about $50.00, from Gambit-Soft, and probably ICD too. It comes with 303,043 good quality chess games, around 5000 anotated. It has just about every helpful analytical function you can imagine, and it even will talk at you. It has some bugs, but then so do they all. But for the price & the features it has, you won't be dissappointed. Consider Xtreme chess something like, Fritz3.5 for windows. Fritz5.32 will impress you by comparison. You can even plug in other strong chess engines into it, including HIARCS6. (availble for extra $). Another good choice, if you want something with a whole lot of feature's (many of which Fritz5 does not have), and stylistically unique would be Rebel10. But you have to be willing to put up with DOS at least for now; until the Windows Beta version comes out, which will be free to current Rebel10 owners. But for the price, technical support, unique features, this program also is hard to beat, at a value price. (about $60). Best of all perhaps, is that you can download, and try it out for 30 days, before you buy. mrslug - the inkompetent chess software addict!
