Hi Chris: Thanks for your input. I've only looked at the first position. Notice that Bruja is not analyzing the position in your diagram. Bruja has it's king on e8 with rights to castle - in fact it does castle queenside after it has cleaned out white's back rank with it's king rook. I don't know exactly what you did, but here is my guess. You fed Bruja the position with the black king on e8 and black rook on h8. That position is legal. You then tried to reach the diagram position by making an illegal O-O for black. Somebody, Bruja or the gui, pointed out the illegal move (e8g8). You then told Bruja to search. What would happen in that case is the following: It is black's turn to move. Bruja receives the illegal O-O. It rejects that move and is still waiting for a move from black. When told to think, it takes the black pieces (it is still blacks turn, the illegal move changed nothing) and goes about searching for a move. Happily, I might add (with score of +13) since black is going to clean white's clock. I do not believe you can get Bruja to think in the position diagrammed. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, since it would steer me to some bug(s) that need fixing. Best Dan H.
