Hi Christopher,

Smirf says:

00:00.1 End of thinking (mate found)
00:00.0 (03.01=) +M~003 1.Rfe7+ (Rxf4) Kf8 2.Qxf4+ Kg8 3.Rd8#

and it is right with that.

Do not confuse a playing engine with a mating engine. A playing engine will
not earn any additional point by mating the shortest possible way. Thus it
may be wasted time to search too intensivly for the shortest mate.

Smirf uses the '~' symbol to underline, that the announced mate depth only
is an estimation, which might change during the game left.

Thus Smirf is not blind, only satisfied.

Reinhard.
