Subject: Hiarcs 7 and 64 MB Hash Table

I have recently purchased Hiarcs 7 upgrade version and successfully installed
(from DOS as instructions require) and have been able to run Hiarcs 7
from Windows 98 with 128kb hash table. However, when I try to run in
DOS "safe mode command prompt only" to get 64 MB hash table it locks up my
computer and I have to do a hard reset from the tower reset button.
It gets as far as bringing up the chess board screen but then freezes up.
This is both when I load a mouse driver or without a mouse driver.
I also have Hiarcs 6 and the "-x switch" with 64 MB hash table works just fine.
I have read about the Dell "-x switch" problem, but my system is not a Dell.
It is an OEM computer called Myoda. It has an Intel PII 300 MHZ CPU, 128 MB
SDRAM, running Intel BIOS version 12 and Windows 98 operating system.
I would be more suspicious of the hardware except for the fact that
Hiarcs 6 runs just fine using 64MB hash tables. Can anyone offer any help
with this matter.
