Karpov is over the hill, while still very strong, is no match for kasparov or anand (fide world ko in '97 was complete farce and anand was exhausted). Deepest blue is dismantled. Even if Karpov was still at moderate strength and deepblue was in.. you are forgetting Kramnik and Shirov.. (who at this point are probably better than Karpov). Also noone would really accept this to find the world champion.. matches are the only "real" way of determining a world champ.. Matt
