Of course.

I do not think that the cloners of Fruit cared to really understand most of the
code.

I think that programmers who understand what they are doing do not need to copy.

I do not think that chessbase GUI give chessbase engines a big advantage.

The main advantage may be that the engine authors of chessbase do not need to
care about book but I think that there are more important things to improve than
book and the facts are that the chessbase engines are better also at nunn type
matches than most of the amateurs.
