Hi Bob!

The settings are not secret, I posted them here on CCC but the settings for Pro
Deo 1.1 Ripley I had not given yet. I don't think the settings are much better
than the default, but they are also not much worse. It is not so easy to make
stronger settings for Pro Deo! I'm not interested in Blitz, that might be a bit
easier. Main characteristic is that the settings are less selective, they do not
get the plydepths of the default but in turn they are a little bit stronger in
tactical situations, and because of higher King Safety, Mobility, they play a
bit more like a Gambit version of Rebel/Pro Deo. That is achievable I think, a
real progress in elo is not easy to do just with new settings. But I'm aiming
for about 2700 on the SSDF scale! If the strength is lower I would be
disappointed.. The match against Gandalf is not going terribly well though...
Gandalf is about 2745 and maybe especially tough in longer timecontrols.

Pro Deo 1.1 Vulcan Q1e - Tactical Engine is more a variation on Q3, Q5T and the
like, it is *only* for analyzing tactical positions but not strong in games.
Very high values for King Safety, Attacking and Attractiveness (adopted from
Q5T, Q3) but for the rest almost normal.

Pro Deo 1.1 Ripley is the latest version of gameplaying versions, I have not
played many games with it.

Another version that I used more on my slower Celeron 500MHz are the Betazoid T8
settings. They did not do so bad against Chess Tiger 14.0 there, the match was
tied 20-20 with few draws. I like the playing style of Betazoid T8. As you may
see, I tried a lot of switches from Albert Silver's settings, but there are some
changes with lower Adjusted Selectivity, higher Mobility and soforth.

are probably better left out, as they do not function or have a very different
function in Pro Deo 1.1. But these were the settings as I used them.
I switched off all learning for testing purposes, that can be switched on again
like in the default settings for matchplay with opening books etc.
