Actually it's pretty undefined. since "almost exact copies" can be understand
different for different people. The term "minor modification" it's also kind of
problematic to get agree with.

what "almost" means?
what it's a "minor modification?"
i'm sure almost everyone has a different concept.

In most people not related to this of "chess engines", the understanding of
clone, it's "exact copy". I see many chess players have the perseption that a
clone it's an exact copy. Maybe we are using the word "clone" incorrectly in
some cases, maybe "derivated" it's better.
