Certainly it was correct but it was wrong from a practical point of view nevertheless. I assume he planed already to sacrifice the knight before he played 31.Bxf4. Some engines might find 32.Bxf4 exf4 33.Ne6 +- or 32.Ne6 +- after 31.Rae1 Qd7 in a reasonable time frame, but they certainly fail to find 32.Ne6 after 31.Bxf4 exf4 since this line is much deeper. After 31.Rae1 black is lost after any Qeen move (for example Qf8 32.Qg3). Sooner or later the white Qeen will appear on h4 followed by a deadly attack. Michael
