I'm sorry , I don't agree that 17.c4 in the first game Hydra-Adams was a "killer
shot". Adams continued 17...dxc4 and was able to equalize on move 23:

[d]2rq1r1k/6pp/p2bB3/2p1Np1b/3Pn3/7P/P1Q2PP1/1RB1R1K1 b - - 0 23

Everyone agrees that strategical knowledge is the main weakness of computer
programs. But now comes the human weakness: cowardice ;)

Humans tend to think that computers are simply "unbeatable". So, Adams drove his
rook from attack with 23...Rc7? and lost the game. However, he could have boldly
sacrificed the exchange with 23...cxd4!

The passed d-pawn is more than good compensation for the exchange. Most engines
will recognize this at once and will evaluate the position as "0.00".

After natural moves like 24.Bxc8 Qxc8 25.Qxc8 Rxc8 26.Bf4 g5 27.Bh2 Rc2, we
reach this position:

[d]7k/7p/p2b4/4Nppb/3pn3/7P/P1r2PPB/1R2R1K1 w - - 0 28

In my opinion, the best continuation for Hydra would be 28.f3 (but not 28.Rb6,
attacking Black's a-pawn, which in my opinion is a losing plan) d3 29.fxe4 d2
30.exf5 dxe1Q+ 31.Rxe1 Kg8, with complete equality.

"Analyze this" (like in the movie) with ur favorite engine ;)
