Hi Dom,

No I haven't really tested those [Confusion] and [Chaos] settings, not much. I
think they work much like [Attacking] but what really the differences can be, I
do not know. Can certainly be worth a try, for games against humans too. Lately
I'm beginning to believe that in games against computers it is better not to put
in high values for Attacking if you can avoid it. Everything else can go up but
Attacking? Maybe even a version with [Attacking] or [Confusion] lower than 100
can play solid chess and maybe add a more aggressive sub-version for when the
score goes up, with the master settings possibility. Here is an example made for
older Rebel by Francesco di Tolla with his interesting Petrosian-personality
that has [Attacking = 80]
Can work!

Haven't settled yet on any version of my settings, there are now four different
Vulcan {9iXX} styles playing against Gandalf! That may take a while. And maybe
Ed will release a new version somewhere this summer? Could be!

If you use
[Adjusted Selectivity MIDG = 4] * Maximum selective depth (midgame)
[Adjusted Selectivity END0 = 4] * Maximum selective depth (early endgame)
[Adjusted Selectivity END1 = 4] * Maximum selective depth (endgame)
[Adjusted Selectivity END2 = 3] * Maximum selective depth (simple endgame)
it makes no difference what number is in [Selective Search =], so for my
settings 80 is not important, 100 is maybe better but I'm still not very happy
with [Selective Search = 100] alone without {Adjusted Selectivity], as I
suggested to Ed also.

You can of course try also
[Adjusted Selectivity MIDG = 5] * Maximum selective depth (midgame)
[Adjusted Selectivity END0 = 4] * Maximum selective depth (early endgame)
[Adjusted Selectivity END1 = 4] * Maximum selective depth (endgame)
[Adjusted Selectivity END2 = 3] * Maximum selective depth (simple endgame)
or even higher numbers.

Hope this makes some sense!
Eelco
