I don't think this is a bold assumption that the computer will generally play
better then theory after move 10 or so. I know many people that play there
computers online. I think most have found with trial and error that you don't
let the book control the game after 10 to 15 moves.

The deeper you go in theory in a book line... in many cases. The better chance
the theory maybe wrong. I have also found this to be true....
