It's hard to argue with success, but after backsolving a bit with Shredder, it
seems Bxd4 might be preferable (though I sometimes question Shredder 7.04's
backsolving with those nonsense pv's).

After the logical moves following Bxd4, you end up with a d-passer, similar to
the real game:

[d]6k1/4Rp1p/3p2p1/3r4/8/5PP1/5K1P/8 b - -

If you play out the game following Hydra's Kg7 Bxf6+ etc (assuming Bxf6+ to be
superior to Kf1), you end up with this:

[d]8/R3pp2/3p1k2/3P2pp/2r5/1r4P1/1P1R1PKP/8 b - -

So, I would agree that Bxd4 looks better, given best play.
