At this time I think you are right, besides that, Hydra and it's team are, and
will always be motivated by money.

So are the sponsors.

So is Adams.

There is nothing meaningful in this "match". It is fatally flawed when money is
the objective.

Books?
Tablebases?
Someone who looks like they are trying to lose?
Some people who want to sell something?
A sponsor in trouble financially?

You do not have to be a brain surgeon to work it out.

Good news that there are free GUI's, engines, database programs etc....

Crooks always get what they deserve in this life or the next.
