While I wish for Crafty to stay public, I don't agree that it will be easy to
catch them.  In fact, without the source, I don't think you can ever prove it.

I do think that a crafty clone should not be allowed to compete against the real
thing in any tournament.  That would be a horrible injustice.   But if we can't
rely on the people to honor the copyright, I don't think we can rely on them to
be truthful about whether it is a clone either.

I suggest:
For any non-commercial program entering a large contest, you must supply the
source code to independent judges when asked.
