Depends broadly on the machine. On a 4 CPU 450Mhz Xeon machine running NT with a Gig of ram and all tablebase files it would be a real tiger. On a 486 with 1 meg of ram it would not be such a monster. Crafty does fairly well at all time controls (witness the blitz rating and the showing in the KKUP2 for opposite ends of the spectrum). The professional retail packages are somewhat stronger on identical hardware. The SSDF will be testing Crafty fairly soon. That should be able to add some numerical certainty to the answer to your question. >What about wcrafty ? That's just a particular crafty binary.
