Subject: Does Dual-Core counts as Multi-Processors?

Hi, can any program handle the dual cores of a processor, or to handle both
cores you need a SMP program? Also, which dual-core processor is better (or can
calculate more positions per second):

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4800+ Processor with HyperTransport and Dual Core Technology
or
Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor w/ HT Technology Extreme Edition 3.73GHz 1066MHz FSB
2MB Cache

And one core only:

AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-57 Processor with HyperTransport Technology
or
Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 570J w/ HT Technology 3.8GHz 800MHz FSB 1MB Cache

Also, please help me which RAM to choose:

2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz - 2 x 1024MB (Intel Computer)
or
2GB Ultra Low Latency DDR PC-3200 SDRAM at 333MHz - 4 x 512MB (AMD Computer)

Please, help me choose! I want the bestest of the best computer for chess. :))
