I have an observation regarding the playing style of Virtual Chess 2 and the Genius programs. I am a elo 1900-2000 player OTB. I noticed that I get my ass kicked quicker when I play Virtual at 2 seconds per move or when I play Genius at 1 second per move, much quicker than when I play Tiger 14 or Nimzo 8 or Hiarcs. Does anybody feel the same way with Virtual and Genius? These two programs are designed to play strong even at the instant level. Even if I set myself 5 minutes to think, I find that it is tougher to play Virtual Chess 2 or Genius than other programs. Their style is so tactical that it looks like every move they make lays a trap of some kind. Junior 6's style on the other hand is more forceful. So is HIARCS's style. I can normall last 25 moves vs HIARCS or Tiger with a drawing score showing in their analysis, but with Virtual/Genius, not less than 15 moves and I feel butt-kicked already.
