No, each engine should be able to play the rules (and then as an afterthought could be made to have an illegal mode). The engines should be tested in a variety of interfaces. For sure, they should all be compatible with either the Winboard or UCI protocol (or both). You are kidding I hope. Surely not more source code (GUI or otherwise) released to the public Uri. Has no one learnt anything or do we have to go on another clone quest just to drive the rusty nail home firmly. Christopher
