To which summit is it possible to climb with Fruit through a little tuning ? Is trying to catch Shredder impossible ? I am not quite sure anymore... Let's see the facts : 1. After 1120 games my ML02 personality with book "mlcb4003" was 53 Elo points behind Shredder in 3+1 blitzes. 2. At the same time Fruit (default setting) with Dann Corbit's Book was 25 points ahead of Fruit-default with my mlcb4003 book. So it looked interesting to test Fruit-ML02 with Dann's book ... But in the meantime I had a look at a new personality (ML03). And after a first series of 100 games, this ML03 personality scores 55-45 against ML02 for an estimated 34 elo points difference. So Fruit21-ML02 was 53 points behind Shredder with my book. Using Dann's book 25 points could be won... And Fruit-ML03 could well be 35 points over Fruit-ML02... Are we at the eve of an open-source chess program being the best in the world ahead of ALL commercial ones ???? ... the answer as soon as testing will be finished ! Marc
