While I agree with your comments on "upgrading" computers, I'd also like to add
that reversible changes are may be not that objectionable. Eprom changes are
very easily done, for example. In my Mephisto Lyon 32bit I have at the moment
the London eprom but it would be a question of a few minutes to put the Lyon
eprom back.

I don't know but maybe modifying the opening book of the R40 is perhaps similar
easily done?
