While I agree with your comments on "upgrading" computers, I'd also like to add >that reversible changes are may be not that objectionable. Eprom changes are >very easily done, for example. In my Mephisto Lyon 32bit I have at the moment >the London eprom but it would be a question of a few minutes to put the Lyon >eprom back. Totally Reversible changes are of course no problem for the "Purist " Collector indeed the Mephisto Tournament Machine was made to use different Eproms my TM has the 68030 eproms for the Porto,Lyon ,VAN ,Genius and London of course each of these eproms are originally released authentic eproms by Mephisto and not copies > >I don't know but maybe modifying the opening book of the R40 is perhaps similar >easily done? i also am not sure..perhaps it is just a bootleg Eprom and the original can be replaced either way..to manipulate an R40 this way is almost a crime after all..an R40 is not the same as a run of the mill Fidelity EAG where the computer is sent to Herr Buc** and the insides are ripped out and replaced. Fidelity EAG housings are not rare at all i am trying even as we speak to contact the schachcomputer police in Holland :)) Detective Regards Steve
