I will be honest to admit that I had the same disregard for Pablo's tricks when I first observed his games. I discounted that it didn't matter that the program lost in such specific and controlled circumstances. But when I watched the same style of game against Hiarcs 9 and saw it painfully making nonsense moves and wasting an enormous amount of time doing so and then eventually flagging itself -- I had to look at it closer. I know Hiarcs' time management quite well -- why was it doing this? Incidentally, he has never been able to repeat this performance with the revised versions subsequent to this Hiarcs 9 upset. I've never said that Pablo's style is something spectacular -- only that there is some value in using his games to fix such time management issues in quick games where blockades are present. I will say that Pablo is able to recreate such circumstances more consistently than anyone I've ever seen employing this style -- hence, it's quite useful to test a revision against him. > > >> >>"Zappa tiene una version desde 1.0 para jugar ajedrez mucho mejor." -- bien. >>"Zappa esta utilizando 4 CPUs lo cual lo hace mucho mas fuertes de los que Pablo >>ha jugado." -- bien. >> >>Que tienes que perder? That is very good advice -- even for those that aren't registered for WCCC2005. :) I shudder to think what the total hours of my life spent here really amounts to. Good luck in the tournament -- I expect (at least) a third place finish. :) Will you be there personally? Sincerely, -elc.
