To all those people out there running matches between Shredder 9 and Fruit- hope i can save u some time and trouble. Regardless of any rating lists u see, and im not sure about shredder 9, it is a statistical fact that by running thousands of games between shredder 8, fritz 8 and Fruit 2.1, in the end they will line up as follows: 1. shredder8 2. Fritz8 3. Fruit 2.1. Any other result, and u had better check ur variables, because u are doing something wrong. Kurt is right when he says 20 games doesnt tell alot. What does make fruit 2.1 so interesting is the fact that it is FREE. I admit if it sold for $40 it wouldnt have peaked my interest as much as it does. But it just cant stay with shredder 8 and fritz 8 in the long run. Ive run over 5000 games, and it just wont happen. Must admit here that the only top program i dont own is Junior 9, so i really cant say how it would fit in that mix. But my guess is it would come in no. 2 behind Shredder8. One interesting note here. I have run fritz 8 and shredder 8 thru hundreds of games online on pogo and yahoo in NONRATED games ag. humans. When i downloaded fruit 2.1, i did the same with it. It is very interesting that it seems to do better ag. human competition than shredder or fritz. If u really want to see run some tests where the outcome is in doubt, forget all the rating lists from people with agendas and download ProDeo 1.1 and List 512. Run your matches between those 2 and Fruit 2.1. They are free also. u may be shocked at the outcome u get. Later, Bud
