Forget the drop box if the defaults aren't working for you.

What you really want is the Unix/OpenBSD/Linux command "rsync".

On a Mac, fire up the Terminal application. (If moving files from Linux, fire
up a terminal emulation window.)

Type:

  rsync -e ssh -auv FilesToBeMovedToOtherMachine
OtherMachineName:TargetDirectoryName

For more information on the too many options of rsync, type:

  man rsync
