MP3 real-time decompression is quite cheap, which is why you can find it in tiny
hand-held devices now. For example, my AMD 2500 can play a mid-range quality MP3
file and only take 2% of the CPU.

But, as the quality gets higher and the CPU gets weaker, this will obviously go
up -- likely even higher than 10%.
