I suppose you don't mean clearing any learning results as learning is not switched on in Dredd, but hash should be cleared anyway automatically By Pro Deo between games. At least that is what I think should be happening, but it can't hurt to do it again manually. In Chess Partner's Engine Research Tool matches you can unload and reload the engines after each game, I always do that. And with testpositions I usually also unload and reload Pro Deo's engine, clear the game, reload the game with the position to test and also clear hashtables every time before I try another setting. Good results! The results and games will vary slightly anyway, so that makes it it bit harder to see any difference of a new setting. You either have to trust your own analysis of many games or play really a lot more games, hundreds of them, to compare settings with more statistical methods. But these new Dredd results seem good! >I tried master.eng in CP GUI, still with a position of over -1.05 it used the >midgame.eng Must be a bug on my side :( > That is strange. The only thing I can think of is maybe it does not work when MASTER.ENG does not have all of the different engines loaded, like in default MASTER.ENG [When OPENING = opening.eng] * opening.eng [When MIDGAME = midgame.eng] * midgame.eng [When EARLY ENDGAME = endgame0.eng] * endgame0.eng [When NORMAL ENDGAME = endgame1.eng] * endgame1.eng [When SIMPLE ENDGAME = endgame2.eng] * endgame2.eng [When SCORE DOWN = down.eng] * down.eng [When SCORE UP = up.eng] * up.eng I think in Dredd not all different engine files are used, but did you maybe test this with the default MASTER.ENG? And let it play at least a couple of moves in a row with just one color? >Next up Nunn test against fruit 2.1 Hopefully fruit wont make my setting >looklike a fruitcake :O You sure pick difficult to beat opponents Dom!
