Thanks Dan, for doing all this analysis! I did not know that in Chessmaster
there was some way to do this kind of "Exclude first best move" search that I
assume you have done here? (Like Rebel used to have).

I'm sure going to to experiment a bit further with this. Maybe if I decrease
King Safety values for an endgame, my settings will play something better in
this position. For older Rebels King Safety was not active in endgames as Ed had
found it hurts performance there, but I never checked if the same is true for
Pro Deo. Maybe it will help already if the evaluation could somehow go to
slightly negative for White, so exchanging would be less attractive. But I have
not yet tried any special endgame settings for Pro Deo. (Also because I think
Dom Leste is better at that!)

Chessmaster seems to have better "sense" here :)

Pro Deo 1.1 Vulcan {9i9k} did not do much better after almost ten hours, when I
stopped the search, it had swiched to 30.f5 but after that still 31.Nxg6
