To be honest, I did not know about the SwissTest.. Thanks to Google, I found a link to it here http://perso.wanadoo.fr/lefouduroi/tournois/uci/swt2_rating.htm http://www.beepworld.de/members38/eigenmann/swisstest.htm English, French, German, computer chess is good for your language skills! But Dom what exactly is Vulcan with default pruning? Could you maybe post those settings? I think it is a good idea to do testing with "avoid this move"-positions. There are so many tests for combinations and sacrifices, and often you have to start tuning in the opposite direction, because your engine or programs thinks it is Santa on the chess board.. Vulcan is probably no exception... So I am very curious what settings may be in Vulcan with other/default pruning! 37/64 = 57,8%, that would put it in the top 6 on Walter Eigenmann's site! But I'm not sure how much time you gave the engine for each position, on the site that was 60 seconds on a P IV. Dredd scored also very good. Does the UP.ENG or DOWN.ENG work now, Dom? Pro Deo regards, Eelco
