41/64 for a "modified" Vulcan is pretty high on a P3! Of course there is no
guarantee that the chosen moves by the Pro Deos that are not avoid moves, are
always good enough, and they can also be worse moves. I checked only if the
avoidable move was not chosen, with the standard EPD test in ChessPartner. But
for an atacking style engine, this SwissTest2 should be a good indication if
thee are any "Kamikaze" tendencies in a setting.:)

If I interpret the results from Walter Eigenmann and Le Fou Du Roi pages
correctly, the percentages there are interpreted elo results, not the percentage
of solved positions. Since this is done with a Chessbase CBH test and suggested
best moves, the elo percentage results are not directly comparable to a number
of solved positions. But anyway, on the page of Le Fou Du Roi you can see that
Shredder scores 52/64 a fantastic number.

On my machine, Pro Deo 1.1 Vulcan {9k9i} doesn't do quite as well as Shredder 9
UCI, it scores 41/64 on an Atlon 3200+ with 200 Mb HT. It is still a good result
I think! The hash tables used are larger than on the mentioned tests where they
used 128 Mb, the Pentium IV is about comparable I think in speed to the Athlon.
Because my settings also use some tactical extensions, like
[Pruning = MISC_30] 		* Extend singular checks
[Pruning = MISC_36] * Extend double attacks (W6) at the leafs
and one minute is not really very long to check if a combination is good, I
think the results are not that bad. Of the free engines, only Aristarch 4.50
also scored 41/64, and for instance Fruit 2.0 (not 2.1) scored 35/64, Toga II
0.93 37/64.

I made one small change in Vulcan {9k9i}, in a normal endgame end1 now
[Pawn Pressure end1 = 120] * weight pawn pressure endgame
where that was 125. I hope this is a bit better.
